This winter song was released in November, 2005
by Remioromen. Used as the insert song
in the Japanese drama, “Ichi Rittoru no Namida (1 Litre of Tears), this song gained
a great popularity together with another Remioromen song used in the drama, “Sangatsu
Kokonoka, (March 9th)”.
"Konayuki" means powder snow. Usually we say "雪yuki がga 降るfuru" (snow is falling), but “雪yuki がga 舞うmau" (舞う means to dance) is another poetic expression.
By translating the lyrics, I realized that this song is a man's pledge to the snow that he will restart with his girlfriend and share their feelings more openly. We haven't seen snow yet in Tokyo this year, but it usually snows in December through late March.
